I just bought a HP Smart Tank 7001. If I print a 2-page print job almost every time the second piece of paper jams up completely into an accordion and stops the system. The paper is the same standard printing paper I use on my four other printers without any issues.
The pages that do print have a crease about 1 inch in.
I found that other people on the HP official forums reported the same issue but there’s no functional resolution and their issues are closed out.
I’m hoping someone has found a real solution so I don’t have to return the printer.

SOLVED!! Here is what I did to solve the problem of the HP printer jamming and also it creating a crease about 1″ in from the edge of the paper.
FIRST: The way the HP printer is set up, the 8.5×11 paper is not held in any way at it’s “bottom edge”. Every other printer I’ve owned in memory has had a sliding bar which ensures the bottom edge of the printer is lined up. This printer just has empty space at the bottom end of the paper. I cut a piece of foam to fit into that area so that the printer paper has a bottom edge to keep it in place.
SECOND: The HP printer by default is set to double-sided printing. I would almost never use double-sided printing. I set the default to be OFF for double-sided printing. I then rebooted my computer.
After those two changes, my printer has not jammed and it hasn’t had any creasing on the paper. I will report back if I see any issues going forward, but I believe these changes have fixed the issues my brand new HP Smart Tank 7001 was having.
Please let me know if these fixes work for you.
